8 September 2010
This morning we had our final training session as a team before the World Championships begins tomorrow. I am competing tomorrow along with three other Australians. Our training session was held at the Kodokan Judo Institute in Central Tokyo, which functions as the Mecca for international judo. The building itself is 8 floors high and is equipped for everything related to practicing and learning judo.
See http://www.kodokan.org/e_info/panorama_exteria.html for a panorama video of the Kodokan and surrounding buildings, and http://www.kodokan.org/index.html for the Kodokan Judo Institute Official Website.
We only trained for approximately 40 minutes. We did a general warm-up, then some moving uchikomi (ie practicing throws), throwing, grips and different scenarios. The day before competition I believe it is beneficial to get a good sweat up at training, move with purpose and intensity, and ultimately feel confident about your judo.
I am feeling good and looking forward to competing tomorrow. I find out my draw this afternoon.
