Training at Tsukuba University, Japan

On Tuesday we arrived in Japan, where we are training at Tsukuba University in preparation for the World Championships which are being held in Toyko next week.
Tsukuba is about an hour and a half from Narita airport. Tsukuba is a very nice town with lots of shops and parks about the place. We are staying in dormitory accommodation near the university (see picture), which is only a short walk to training.

There are a number of other teams staying here at the moment too, including Portugal, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Sweden and the Philippines. We had randori training on Thursday and Friday, but otherwise we have just been training for judo amongst the Australian Team and running or going to the gym in the morning. It is very hot and humid here at the moment (about 35 degrees) which makes training even more exhausting!

We leave for Tokyo on Tuesday, which about a two hour bus ride away, where we will stay at one of the official hotels for the competition. I fight on Thursday. Bring it on!
